Promoting excellence in human research through accreditation

Human Research Accreditation Canada (HRA Canada) is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body for human research; the first and only in Canada. It accredits Canadian Human Research Protection Programs (HRPPs) through a bilingual, voluntary, peer-driven program based on Canadian National Standards for human research.

An HRPP is an organization-wide program of interdependent entities that share the responsibility for research participant protection and interact in a system that promotes a culture of research integrity, quality, efficiency, accountability and evidenced-based practices. Individuals who play a role in the HRPP are those whose actions directly or indirectly affect the health, welfare, interests, or rights of research participants and/or research data integrity. An HRPP can exist in any for-profit or not-for-profit, public or private organization where human research is conducted and/or overseen.
