Franca holds a Masters of Science degree in nursing and research ethics. She began her research ethics work managing the research ethics board of the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal where she also implemented a quality assurance program, the first of its kind in Quebec.
Franca served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Lady Davis Institute of Medical Research of the Jewish General Hospital. There Franca managed over 700 human research studies in addition to fundamental research activities ensuring their compliance with institutional policies, ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
At McGill University, Franca was a lecturer on the ethical principles and regulatory requirements of clinical trials for nursing and medical students.
